Due to the new COVID-19 GUIDELINES imposed by the CDC & The Governor’s Restore IL Plan, the NSYC is not currently offering Sailing, Kayaking, or SUP classes, or any Social Events.

New Memberships are being accepted under the following limited conditions:
1) You own your own Sailboat, Kayak, SUP or Powerboat, and you transport it to the NSYC each visit for your own use, OR
2) For experienced Sailors you must be able to demonstrate independent skills of Swimming, Rigging, Sailing and Derigging a Sailboat (Sunfish) without assistance, prior to using NSYC sailboats.
3) For experienced SUP paddlers you must pass a Swim and Skills competency assessment to qualify for NSYC SUP equipment use.
4) Kayak equipment use is restricted to renewing members who have previously passed the Swim and Skills assessment.

Please check back often as we are hopeful this restriction eases as the summer progresses.  Parking access to the site is restricted to Park Ave. Boating Facility Parking Decal holders, issued by the Park District of Highland Park.  Limited 2020 boat storage space may be available through the Park District.

Racing

Sunday racing – for sailing members of all skill levels! This is the best way to get involved, have fun, and enhance your sailing skills. Starting early June until September, we gather at 12:30 each Sunday afternoon for the Skipper's meeting, and then we’re off to the races. We race until about 4 pm (no races to start after 4 pm).

Racing Workshops – we offer a few free racing workshops throughout the season, often led by the most experienced racers on the North Shore. Racing workshops are a great way to develop your skills, practice racing starts and strategies, and get to know other racers in the club. Check the weekend calendar for announcements under Events.

NSYC’s Summer’s End Regatta – Our annual flagship event attracts sailors of all skill levels from around the Midwest, including some of the top sailors in North America. This two-day event features officially sanctioned Buccaneer 18, Sunfish and Laser class racing. Pre-registration is required (add link…). See Calendar of Events Summer’s End Regatta for this year’s Regatta dates. For more info contact Regatta@NorthShoreYachtClub.com.
