NSYC Cardboard Boat Race

NSYC Party & Pig Roast

The North Shore Yacht Club Invites Everyone
to Participate in a Boat Race for Fun!

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Construct Your Boat at Home
or
The Beach Will Be Open All Afternoon for Boat Construction

Here's the Deal....

1.  Make a boat using cardboard, duct tape, caulk, and glue only.
2.  Get in the boat.
3.  Paddle with cardboard or hands or sail along the beach for about 100 yards or until you sink.

This race is for fun and glory and kids are encouraged to participate.  Boat show on the beach at 5 pm.  Boats should be ready for judging.

The race will be short (~100 yards maximum) and will be parallel to the shore to avoid deep water and give the adoring crowd a better vantage.

North Shore Yacht Club members and the public is invited to participate!  Decorate those boats!

Race rules:

•    Boats to be human powered
•    Boats and propulsion systems to be built of cardboard, tape and glue only
•    All racers required to have on a proper PFD
•    No intentional contact during staging or race
•    All boats and parts must be removed from the lake after race
Google "how to build a cardboard boat" for construction ideas.

North Shore Yacht Club members may contact Dzintars Petersons at the telephone number below for cardboard.  First come.  First served.  No guarantees.
