Sunfish

Sunfish sailing is one of the main activities of the North Shore Yacht Club, and there are many ways to get involved. Make sure to sign up for the NSYC Yahoo! Group to get updates by email.

Sunday racing – for sailors of all skill levels, this is the best way to get involved, have fun, and enhance your sailing skills. Starting early June until Labor Day weekend, we gather around 1 pm every Sunday, with races starting at 2 pm. We race until about 4 pm (no races to start after 4 pm).

Weekend sailing – you will likely find a group of sailors sailing every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, so just come to Park Avenue beach and join us. Remember that for the use of club boats we require the use of a buddy system (two Sunfish sailors must be sailing near to each other at all times). This is a good practice for everyone, even those sailing with their own boats.

Racing Workshops – we will schedule on Saturdays a few racing workshops, led by one of the most experienced racers on the North Shore. Racing workshops are a great way to develop your skills, practice racing starts and strategies, and get to know other racers in the club. Dates to be announced.

Thursday evening sailing – from June to September, we gather on Thursday’s around 5:30 pm and sail until before sunset. We may bring a few marks and have a very informal racing practice. If you are a member of the NSYC Yahoo! Group, you can send an email to the group to confirm others are coming.

Summer’s end regatta – our flagship event is the Summer’s end regatta, which takes place on Labor Day weekend. For sailors of all skill levels, it’s an all-day event where we are joined by sailors from other yacht clubs, including some of the top sailors in North America.
