The Buccaneer is uniquely matched to the conditions afforded by Lake Michigan, and our fleet has been sailing in Highland Park since the mid-1970's.  The Buccaneer 18 is a fractional sloop rig day sailor with roller jib furling, sailing1crop spinnaker, and a main sail, simply a perfect boat for day sailing as well as racing. Our fleet is one of several North American Buccaneer Racing Fleets throughout the US and Canada.  We offer fun and competitive racing on Sunday afternoons where we try to get three to four races off.  Skipper's meeting is at 1:00 pm and no races start after 4:00 pm.

Whether you're looking for a racing fleet, or just thinking about taking the next step in sailing and want to learn to Crew, the NSYC is the place!  Older boats are readily available and can be competitive with the new boats.  Come on down and talk to the Buccaneer sailors and we'll be happy to hook you up to sail with a Bucc!

See the class website for other Buccaneer fleets, rigging information and history of the boat class by visiting http://buccaneer18.org and check out Buccaneer 18 on Facebook to learn more about the beauty of the Bucc.
